Disney Parks just announced “Mickey and the Magical Map” to premiere summer of 2013, replacing the existing Fantasyland theater in Disneyland!
BREAKING NEWS - ‘Mickey and the Magical Map’ Debuting at Fantasyland Theater for Summer 2013! (UPDATE - May 25, to be exact)
The large Fantasyland Theater at Disneyland Park has been home to various shows in year past. For the past few years though, it hadn’t been so instead being home to princess meet-and-greets. The whole complex has been closed for a couple of months now with renovations and updates already taking place to bring live shows back into the theater and today, Disneyland has released more information on what that show will be!
Titled ‘Mickey and the Magical Map,’ the show begins with a sorcerer named “Yen Sid” (or ‘Disney’ spelled backwards) who tells of a map that takes dreamers to magical places. Unfortunately, the map isn’t finished so it is the task of the younger sorcerer Mickey Mouse to paint the last part.
Then BAM. Magic ensues and the rest of the show goes one featuring various Disney characters and music from all over the Disney universe that all tell the mystery of the map’s magic.
Seem pretty interesting? We think so, but hopefully there’s some dramatic moments in this show. We feel that they’ve been lacking in past shows (i.e. World of Color).
Show opening is slated for sometime this Summer (UPDATE - a source from Disneyland is saying that the show may be ready in late May or early June)!** UPDATE 3/13 - Disneyland announced that the show’s opening date will be on Saturday, May 25! **

Back in August, we told you our Creative Entertainment team was developing a spectacular live entertainment experience for the Fantasyland Theatre at Disneyland park. Today, I’m thrilled to share with you some more details about this amazing new show, “Mickey and the Magical Map.”
The wise sorcerer Yen Sid tells of a wondrous map – one unlike any other – with the power to take dreamers to any place imaginable. But when young apprentice Mickey Mouse attempts to paint the map’s one unfinished spot, he stumbles into a fantastic adventure through worlds of music, color and beloved characters, as he discovers the mystery of the map’s magic!

The music, guys….. Disney scores are so beautiful and this one is reminding me just a bit of Kingdom Hearts, like this is a tiny piece of what it’ll be and I already know I’m going to be listening to this endlessly…
This show is going to be beautiful. I peeked at the stage set, it’s amazing. Honestly I flipped when they announced this…
Fantasy Faire is beautiful but I’m so much more excited for this you have no idea
Less than a month away!!

I am so excited to see this musical! I was so bummed when the princesses took that stage over, don’t get me wrong, I love the Princesses, BUT I loved all the musicals they had on that stage and I’m so glad they are making a new one! Mickey and the Magical Map premiering on May 25th! Tell me if you get to go see it before me! I wanna know how it is!!
King Louie On The Map.
We are anxiously awaiting more details on the new Disneyland show that will once again make Fantasyland Theater a theater once more.
On Friday, May 25, “Mickey and the Magical Map” will debut to the public and since we’re less than a month away from then, Disney has been slowly but surely teasing the new show and its details.
We’ve been able to share a lot of other information about the show (i.e. how many times it’ll be shown a day, theater stats/improvements, , music selection, etc.), but not a whole lot of what the actual show will be like.
Until now. Take a look in the video above. Meet King Louie who takes center stage in one of the scenes of the new show as he sings a new twist on a “Jungle Book” classic.
From his fluid moving arms and legs to his “active” jaw, the fanciful realism of this show is something that we’re looking forward to in not just King Louie, but ALL the on-stage characters we’ll see as we travel around the Magical Map.

I’m just waiting for what happens here or just with the fandoms of Epic Mickey and Kingdom Hearts once the new show “Mickey and the Magical Map” comes out.

6 o’clock.
We come across it everyday. 6 o’clock.
It happens twice a day - AM then PM and each occasion usually doesn’t hold any significance in our lives except for maybe eating dinner, but not anymore.
This coming Thursday, May 23 - 24, we’ll be at Disneyland for a very special press event.
It is special because it’ll allow us to cover two big debut events: the premiere of “Mickey and the Magical Map,” the new live stage show inside Fantasyland Theatre and the start of the Monstrous Summer All-Nighter, the second 24 hour party at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts!
And they both occur within the 6 o’clock time period with “Mickey and the Magical Map” premiering at 6:45 PM on May 23 and the All-Nighter beginning at 6:00 AM on May 24.
And we’ll be there to cover it all. Live!
Be sure to join us on our official COVERAGE PAGE and on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, and YouTube for pictures, video, and live text reports from the Disneyland Resort beginning Thursday, May 23 for these one-of-a-kind-events.
You’ll never look at your 6 o’clocks the same way again.
